Is there a permanent ban on accounts that lie about injury or death of people in the sport? Unverified rumors of changes with teams is one thing, but there needs to be a stiff penalty for spreading falsehoods about other's health.

Yes, for the most part. We don't take that kind of stuff lightly.

Is it just me or are there more posts of random NASCAR clips and compilations from YouTube being posted? Like people are just taking whatever pops up in their suggestions feed and posting it here. I love seeing some old footage or coverage I may have never seen but I don't understand posting the Gordon-Keselowski fight, arguably the most famous fight of the last decade and titling it Remember this.

Welcome to /r/nascar. This is what happens when pretty much anything is allowed.

Well I get the mods reasoning behind the rules and being loose with a lot of the posting guidelines. It encourages folks to interact when they're typically less inclined to do so and once you start boxing everything in you start limiting discussion. But I expected things to level out after the off season and got a few races into the year. Instead it seems like extremely low effort posts are only becoming more common.

Also I have no issues with off the wall or dumb what-if theory posts if users actually think it out and make a compelling argument. It's the ones that sound like they put 30secs of thought into a topic and decided it would be a good idea to look for validation here.

Don't even get me started, man.

Yeah, that's the biggest issue. Anything starting with "does anyone else remember" is low effort karma whoring. I'm fine with posting bullshit, but it should be bullshit you're invested in, bullshit with effort.

level 5

That should be Reddit’s new slogan: “Bullshit with effort!”

What’s the deal with mods adding livery tags to paint scheme posts? Honestly who cares this much?

This

Can we chill with the constant Wienermobile posts please? The season is only a month old, you guys need to pace yourselves.

You're not allowed to complain about shitposting.

In NASCAR it’s a paint scheme. In F1 it’s a livery. This is a NASCAR sub, therefore they should be referred to as paint schemes. The *Livery tag is condescending.

I can't figure out how this even caught on. This term has never been used by anyone in this sport ever.

level 3

Just wannabe elitist snobs who looked at an F1 site for the first time and thought "hey maybe I'll sound smarter if I use these words that no one else has ever heard of on a NASCAR site". Except that we actually DO know the words, and choose not to use them because... we're American.

level 4

Chill. It started with a fan that I believe is British or Aussie.

level 3

One user who frequently posts schemes after they popup on Twitter started it. When some of us made it a point paint scheme is the term in NASCAR it became a game for some. I believe they may be British or Aussie.

level 2

This.

Usually I show appreciation for the mods on this but I gotta show my appreciation for the regulars in the sub. Yall make my days go by and I learn so much from you guys the past 2 and a half years. Of the 5 subs I frequent (r/MortalKombat r/NASCAR r/KOF r/OneTruthPrevails r/Kirby) this is easily the best sub

level 1

Can we chill with the *livery tagging?

level 1

The constant flagging of Livery on Paint Scheme posts is annoying... Really no need for it

I'm not calling for a ban on these posts, but have people become dependent on others to make their driver choices rather than just watch and pick? I'm asking as an old fuck who just doesn't get this trend.

level 2

You're not alone. It's an influx of new fans or old ones finding r/NASCAR for the first time and thinking this sub is just a free for all forum like 2000s internet.

Last few weeks have had a lot of who to pick, remember this, what's the answer to this easy to Google question type of post. At least we haven't had multiple daily how to fix NASCAR posts though.
