In these threads, we encourage in-depth discussion about the "fallen angels" throughout Survivor history, counting down from the most recent to the original. In this context, a fallen angel is the last player eliminated prior to Final Tribal Council.
What allowed these players to make it to the end game? What are the reasons they fell short? Were they legit threats or coattail riders? How close were they to winning? Who would they have won or lost against had they made it to Final Tribal Council? How was their gameplay, narrative, story, edit, competition, and former or later seasons (if applicable)? What's their Survivor legacy? Are they overrated or underrated as a player and a character? Will they ever return?
These threads are meant for in-depth discussion, not low-effort content. We encourage people to post their detailed thoughts after reflecting on these fallen angels and their paths through the game.

If anyone deserves a 3rd chance espically after cambodia its Terry. #ReplaceJoeWithTerry
Terry kind of fit the role better than Joe tbh. Joe never made it to day 38 unlike Terry.
Terry would of been perfect on season 38 you still have the physical threat aspect with all players making it to day 38.
Aubry still wouldn't quite fit, though. Technically yeah she did make it 38 days but she also made it past that point in the game.
I loved his short stint in Cambodia and wasn’t even particularly a fan of his first time around. All for a Terry threepeat.
Man, that season was infuriating watching Terry try and convince other members of that insane tribe for them to then never vote with him. I guess props to Aras and Cirie for keeping that crazy alliance together, otherwise I think Terry wins that season easily
And that last challenge didn't seem very fair, he was too big for those pads.
His wardrobe was literally the same shirt as Aras's but in opposite colors - perfect visual for the overarching story of the season.
I didn't love Panama but I loved Terry.
Please get a third chance 😭😭😭 he was robbed in Cambodia
True, but I think the positive way to look at it is that despite the bad timing he was still able to get back to see his son. And his son got a heart transplant. That's better than winning Survivor IMO.
Would love to see Terry again, though.
I met this dude once randomly, totally a great guy. I loved him right away and I know his social game is much better these days. I want him to come back for a real second chance. I really think he could win the whole game.
What was he supposed to do? Keep the weakest member around?
Force a tie for fire. IDK I was like 11 years old when Panama aired and wanted to be an astronaut. And I literally hated Terry for voting off Dan. It's not rational but the feeling persists.
Since there'd be more than one person vulnerable after a deadlock, I'd assume rocks. The fire comes in only when one person would have to draw.
This has been debated before and there doesn't seem to be a clear answer. The four going to tribal though we're under the impression it was for fire though.
Nick has said that it would've been fire at the final Jebeni tribal if Lyrsa and Angelina had tied so I'd imagine that rule existed back then as well
Some underdogs you want to root for. You're sad that they've been out of the power seat and want them to succeed regardless and hope they can turn their luck around.
And then there is Terry.
I've had many a debate with people about whether Terry works as a villainous underdog or is just plain fucking annoying and I'm not sure which of them it is. I hate watching Terry be an asshole for the entirety of the post-merge but I enjoy the extra character development Casaya gets through interactions with him. Like, I don't think Aras would ever pop anywhere near as much as a character if he didn't have a Terry to rail against.
As far as game goes... eh I guess he was in a okay spot or La Mina? I'm guessing people wouldn't be dumb enough as to take Captain America to the end voluntarily but given that he's one of the most dominant challenge performers on any season ever maybe if La Mina enters into the merge with numbers and Pagongs Casaya he could have just won his way to victory ... except oops the final challenge mercifully released us from Terry.
As for that immunity challenge being unfair to Terry: yeah every immunity challenge ever was unfair to someone but somehow people only speak up about it when it DOESN'T favor the powerhouse alpha men. And thank fuck he didn't win because that season would be so much worse.
In conclusion, Casaya forever.
Terry: 8/10 (Dominant challenge guy, savvy, smart. The only thing that knocks him down is his super idol basically giving him free reign, but in the end he deserved to win, and was robbed in a stupid final challenge.)
That last challenge was unfair. The pad collapsed under his body weight. Kind of went against the whole point of the challenge.
It didn't collapse under his body weight. He got unbalanced and put too much weight on one side which caused that side to go under. The point of that challenge was to keep weight distubuted evenly and stay balanced. It probably benifited smaller people somewhat but all challenges favor some characteristics
