Well... naturaly every class has it's own specifics. There are several key things that are general:

  • DoT uptime should be at/near 100%. Buff uptime (if sutainable) at 100%, if not, as close to maximum. Examples - moonfire (boomkin), SnD (rogue), Archangel (Disc priest).

  • If spec has a key skill of low cooldown, that it is used on cd. Tiger's fury (feral), Chimera shot (hunter). Divide fight length by cooldown, and check if # of potential casts is close to actual casts.

  • amount of cooldowns used - maximum per fight, unless specificall delayed. For instance, a boomkin has 3minute cooldowns, so in 7 minute fight you want to see 3 casts. However, if it's impossible to line up any of 3 casts with the ring (very odd but maybe it happens), 2 casts lined up with the rings is okay.

  • two potions used.

  • ABC - always be casting. As little as possible time should be spent doing nothing.

  • defensives used where applicable - dead raider is bad raider.

  • no resource capping. If a class requires capping, or is gcd locked at some point, check that as little as possible gets wasted, and more imprtant resources are spent first. Abilities with charges are considered resources for this purpose.

These are all guidelines. For each spec there are small things that may be imprtant or even counterintuitive, but you need to play the class or be very knowledgeable to spot them.
